Current Management of High-grade Astrocytic Neoplasms—Small but Tangible Progress
نویسنده
چکیده
grade astrocytic tumors comparable in scope yet greater in magnitude to that of the prior 40 years. This is thanks to the convergence of three factors: the introduction of an oral agent with antitumor activity beyond the blood–brain barrier and modest systemic toxicity (temozolomide); the demonstration through a well-conducted randomized trial of the superiority of multimodality therapy; and the fact that we now stand on the threshold of additional progress through key advances in translational biology, which, in many cancers, is providing new targets for therapeutic intervention.

An Immunohistochemical Study of Cyclin D1 Expression in Astrocytic Tumors and its Correlation with Tumor Grade
Background & Objective: Glioblastoma-multiforme is the high grade form of astrocytic tumors with a short survival time, which are the most common type of brain tumors. Therefore, finding new therapeutic options is essential. Cyclin D1 is expressed in some human malignancies and can be a potential target for therapeutic intervention. The aim of the present study was to determine...
متن کاملp53 protein alterations in adult astrocytic tumors and oligodendrogliomas.
BACKGROUND p53 is a tumor suppressor gene implicated in the genesis of a variety of malignancies including brain tumors. Overexpression of the p53 protein is often used as a surrogate indicator of alterations in the p53 gene. AIMS In this study, data is presented on p53 protein expression in adult cases (>15 years of age) of astrocytic (n=152) and oligodendroglial (n=28) tumors of all grades....

The aim of this study includes investigation into the impact of education based on Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences (MI) on educational achievement of high school students (Grade II) in mathematics from Garmsar City. The current study is of applied type in terms of nature since research is seeking for testing of some theoretical concepts in real and live situations. Whereas the presen...
متن کاملMolecular pathogenesis of pediatric astrocytic tumors1
Astrocytomas are the most common pediatric brain tumors, accounting for 7%–8% of all childhood cancers. Relatively few studies have been performed on their molecular properties; therefore, classification of pediatric astrocytic tumors into genetic subtypes similar to that of adult tumors remains to be defined. Here, we report an extensive characterization of 44 pediatric astrocytomas—16 diffuse...
متن کاملAssessment of Micro-vessel Density in Brain Glioma by CD105 Expression
Background& Objective: Micro-vascular proliferation is an important histological feature of brain glioma with more vascular proliferation is present in higher grades of glioma. CD 105 is expressed in new actively proliferating and immature endothelial cells in tumor environment and appears to be capable to distinguish between malignant neo-vasculature and normal vesse...
